JamesCare for Life

Cancer is a lifelong journey as it often presents cancer warriors, their families and caregivers with new coping challenges and impacts so many areas of life.

JamesCare for Life provides free support programs for those affected by cancer, including patients, caregivers and family members. It can be accessed at the time of diagnosis and offers classes, events, and groups that focus on the physical, emotional, practical and spiritual aspects life. These programs are designed to empower survivors and caregivers by providing education, support and coping tools that aid health and well-being.

Livestrong at the YMCA

A great resource to utilize is the Livestrong program at the YMCA. You can check with your local YMCA branch for the location in your county that offers the program.

The YMCA is committed to supporting the health and well-being of the community. Through Livestrong at the YMCA, a free or low-cost 12 week research-based program, the YMCA supports cancer survivors and their families in regaining their physical, emotional and spiritual strength. This health and wellness exercise program is conducted in a small group setting that includes the ability to share and connect with other participants.

Livestrong at the YMCA is an important piece of the Y's mission to promote healthy living for those who have or have had a chronic disease like cancer. YMCA fitness instructors work with each participant to fit the program to their individual needs.
